8/8/21: Cardinals Vs Royals, First MLB Game Since 2019

It’s been a big weekend to say the least, and I finished it off strong! After catching a few hours of sleep in St Louis, it was time to get to the ballpark again. The Cardinals were playing a day game against the Royals, and tickets were only $7.

It was a hot/humid August Sunday in St. Louis. My car said 92 degrees while driving to downtown. I was able to get a great seat behind the plate, and the timelapse will have all of the action. St Louis was the last stadium I was at during a playoff game in 2019, so it was great to be back!

One of the reasons I looked forward to this game, was because Jon Lester was on the mound. I felt like the trade for him by the Cardinals was underrated, and could help them in the playoffs, if they make it. He worked with a lead for a few innings, but the Royals were able to put some runs together. This game looked to be over, but the cardinals were able to tie the game in the 8th inning before a rain delay. Before the game was tied back up, I was exploring the Ballpark Village area, and got ahead of traffic. I was able to stay dry though, since I made it to the car right before it rained. The game ended up going into a rain delay for over an hour, and the Royals put a run on after the game resumed. Kansas City won the game 6-5

In my opinion, I still see some promise in St Louis this season. They’re one good winning streak away from the top of the division, and they have the winning pieces on their team. Kansas City has a lot of young talent on their team, also. They could be in contention again within the next few years.

If anyone hasn’t been to the St Louis area before, I highly recommend it! There are a lot of things to do, and it’s reasonably priced. Be on the lookout the rest of this week, there will be at least 3 posts! I’m on vacation from work this week, and will be sharing a lot of exciting things. As always, I’ll share the pictures below. Be sure to check out the YouTube video and my previous post from the weekend, if you haven’t already!
